Built around everyday money
Private by design
Your financial ledger stays on your device. Backing up and sharing a group are your choices, and a shared group is encrypted so only its members can read it.
Understand your privacyTransactions, accounts, budgets, goals and personal ledgers are kept in an encrypted database on your device. They are never uploaded to an ePurse server.
A group stays on your phone unless you invite someone. Share one, and its names and amounts are encrypted on your phone first, so the group service can’t read them. Lent & Borrow records stay with you.
Choose when to make an encrypted backup to your own Google Drive. Restore with your password or recovery key when you need it.
Security & backup →A few things worth knowing
No. ePurse helps you record and understand your finances. It does not connect directly to your bank to move money. A repayment or settlement records what happened; it does not send a payment.
Only if you choose. Groups stay on your phone unless you invite someone, and sharing is entirely up to you. Once you share a group, its members see and can update its expenses and balances, and the details are end-to-end encrypted so ePurse can’t read them. Lent & Borrow records and the rest of your ledger stay on your device. A WhatsApp repayment reminder is sent only when you choose.
You can add transactions manually. On Android, with SMS permission, ePurse can detect transactions from bank messages on your device. Check detected entries in the Review Queue and correct their categories when needed.
No. Google sign-in identifies you in the app; it does not upload your ledger. Only groups you choose to share sync, between their members. Encrypted Google Drive backup is a separate action, and restoring a backup is not continuous device-to-device sync.
If you made an encrypted Drive backup, you can restore it using the same Google account and your backup password or recovery key. Keep those credentials safe. Groups you share catch up from the other members once you restore. Without a usable backup, local records may be lost with the device.
No. Settings → Delete Account clears app data on your phone, deletes your shared-group account if you have one, and disconnects your Google account. Previously created Drive backups must be deleted separately. The Delete account page explains every step.
