Delete your account & data

Updated 28 October 2026.

When you delete your account, ePurse keeps nothing about you. Your records live on your phone and are erased there. If you shared a group, your sharing account is deleted from ePurse’s group service too. An encrypted Google Drive backup is your own copy in your own Drive, so you remove it separately.

1. Delete your account in the app

  1. Open ePurse and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete Account, below Logout.
  3. Read the confirmation and choose Delete.

This erases transactions, accounts, budgets, goals, reminders and other app records from your device and disconnects your Google account. It cannot be undone. It does not delete existing Drive backups.

If you shared or joined a group, keep your phone online: ePurse first deletes your sharing account—including your email address—along with your group memberships, invites and push-notification tokens. You leave every shared group, even one with money still owed. The group's own record, which its other members also hold, keeps the expenses you were part of so their balances still add up; it is no longer linked to any account of yours.

2. Remove your Drive backups separately

If you have used backup, open your own Google Drive with the same Google account. Search for epurse-backup, review the matching files and remove the backups you no longer want to retain. Deleting a backup does not erase a separate local copy in the app.

3. If you no longer have the app

Use your device’s app settings to remove any remaining local ePurse data. Review ePurse’s access in your Google account’s connected-app settings and revoke it if needed. Separately remove any saved Drive backups.

If you shared a group and removed the app without using Delete Account, your sharing account still exists. Email support@epurse.co.in from the Google account you used with ePurse, with “Delete Account” in the subject, and we will delete it exactly as the app would and confirm by reply. If you never shared a group, there is nothing of yours on our service to delete.

What this does not affect

Deleting your ePurse account does not delete original SMS messages or change balances at your bank. Other members of a shared group keep their own copy of the group on their phones. ePurse records financial activity; it does not move money from bank accounts.
